Cycling Kailash Kathmandu Tour

Cycling Kailash Kathmandu Tour

Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar has been known as a holy site to the adherents of Hindu, Bon, Buddhist and the Jain religion for centuries. Geographically situated in the middle of six mountain ranges symbolizing the Lotus, Mt. Kailash is said to be the eternal adobe of Lord Shiva, the God of all Gods in Hinduism; the place where the first Jain Tirtahnkara, Rishabhadeva attained liberation from rebirth, the navel of the universe and home of Buddha Demchok who represents supreme bliss in Buddhism; and the place of all spiritual power in the Bon religion.

Simikot – Hilsa route gives the best scenery and culture of both Nepal and Tibet. Simikot has airstrip where our trekking starts. We trek upto Hilsa Nepal-Tibet boarder and reach Purang then catch the Jeep and drive to Taklakot and next day we drive to Lake Manasarovar. The following day we reach the base of Mt. Kailash i.e. Darchen. We will go around Mt. Kailash in clockwise direction crossing Dolma La Pass. Then we drive to Kodari Boarder and come to Kathmandu.

Traveling by mountain bike in Kailash region, it is possible to softly pedal down Highway and slowly approach Mount Kailash. Trekking from Simikot Hilsa of Nepal side, it take 8 day of normal trekking and driving to reach Kailash Manasarovar ,an another 14 days to reach Kathmandu by Mountain Bike. Now a days rough road leads up to Dolma- La base but it is hard to carry your bikes while crossing Dolma- La. We plan to reach your Bikes from road up to Manasarovar, while you will be trekking and driving from Simikot till Taklakot. Riding back to Kathmandu from Darchen is over crossing 5500 m passes and staying in Camp. This is approx 974 Km in total.
