Kailash Manasarovar Saga Dawa Festival - 14 Days

The Saga Dawa (also known as Saka Dawa) is considered highly significant in Tibet. The terms "Saga Dawa" came from two words "saga" which means "the fourth" and "Dawa" which means “month.” Taken together, Saga Dawa literally means the “fourth month.” Each year on this day near a place called Kailash Kora, the old prayer flag pole is taken down and the new one is put up. The prayer flagpole is a tall pole from which are hung hundreds if not thousands of multicolored prayer flags. Each prayer flag represents a prayer that someone wants fulfilled.

After the ceremony, a grand procession is held. Much like a carnival, the parade commences at Tsuk-La- Lang Monastery in Gangtok and is led by monks carrying holy scriptures and fine portraits of Lord Buddha. A chorus of Buddhist hymns fills the air, contributing to an enchanting atmosphere.

Our main destination Mount Kailash and Manasarovar reach via Kerung border of Nepal. Stay overnight at typical Tibetan mud houses and take your foods from local restaurants. Mount Kailash Parikrama is the adventure in this tour, which is 3 days of trekking by crossing 5613 meters Dolma La pass. You also have the option to take personal helper and pony at this part. Finally, explore the Saga Dawa Festival and drive back to Kathmandu via Kerung Boarder.
